I’m a developmental psychologist researching associations between digital media use and (mental) well-being in young people, currently focusing on gaming. I am particularly interested in understanding how these associations interact with the familial and peer systems that young people are embedded within. My work also investigates how early-life risk and resilience factors shape longer-term outcomes in broad areas like health, wealth and social relationships. In general, I want to understand how to best promote adaptive development, and how to mitigate the effects of early adversity, both offline and in digital spaces where young people increasingly grow up. I am committed to open and transparent science, and I preregister my studies and share materials, data and code where possible.
